They ran out of money. They renovated three walls, leaving the fourth one old.

When renovating a building's walls, do you also only restore three walls and leave one intact? Probably not, and the Trzebnica commune seems to have embraced a new trend of investment. The renovation crew only restored three walls, leaving the fourth one intact. It turned out the commune ran out of money.
Mayor Marek Długozima assures that Trzebnica will soon become a "spa" again. The problem is that these promises have been made for several years. Furthermore, the city lacks a sanatorium. Nor does it have many other essentials. This doesn't bother the mayor and, at almost every opportunity, he shares his visions. In 2021, under rather strange circumstances, he exercised his right of first refusal and purchased an old, dilapidated building from the Sisters of St. Borromeo. Nearly 8 million złoty was spent on the project, and the building has been standing and deteriorating for almost four years. It was even ransacked. We'll discuss this in more detail in a separate article.
Now, it turns out that another interesting development, or rather, as some would say, an embarrassment, has surfaced. It concerns the former kindergarten building on 1 Maja Street. The municipality tried to sell it several times, but found no takers. After the outbreak of war in Ukraine, it was used for a time as refugee accommodation. A friendly German city even provided funds for roof repairs, which were completed. The refugees have long since left the building, and the mayor has announced a new plan. He wants this building to be used as a "spa" facility as well.
A few months ago, a tender was announced and work was commissioned to restore the facade. A renovation crew moved in, scaffolding was erected, and work began on restoring the exterior walls. The gaps were filled and repainted. Even then, we were warned that the renovation looked rather odd, as the scaffolding was only on three walls. However, we assumed that over time, it would be moved and the fourth wall would also be renovated.
Now it turns out that won't be the case. The contractor has completed the work and dismantled the scaffolding. The only problem is that the fourth wall remains "untouched." Three walls were renovated, but the fourth remains shabby and a different color.
Unofficially, officials told us that it was clear from the outset that there wasn't enough money to renovate the entire building, but the mayor persisted and ordered three walls to be repaired. We asked the office and the mayor why this was done and when the final wall would be repaired. We also asked if the mayor already knew what the building's intended function would be and when it would be open to residents. We haven't received a response yet.
