Honorary Citizen of the City of Przemyśl, Prof. Lidia Morawska with another prestigious distinction. "On the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the university, on Tuesday, May 13 at 11:00, in the auditorium of the Eastern Innovative Architecture Center, Professor Lidia Morawska was awarded the title of doctor honoris causa of the Lublin University of Technology," the authorities of the Lublin University of Technology announced.
In the information prepared by the Rector’s Office of the Lublin University of Technology we read: “Professor Morawska’s cooperation with the Lublin University of Technology began in 2011 and since then has brought many valuable initiatives.
– Signing a cooperation agreement, joint scientific articles, research, study trips, participation in conferences, and even joint supervision of a PhD student from Bhutan. This is a unique scientific and friendly relationship.

Professor Morawska has promoted 51 doctors and is supervising another 8.

Fighting for clean airProfessor Lidia Morawska is an advisor to the World Health Organization. Over the past twenty years, she has co-created all WHO guidelines on air quality standards. She was named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world. Prof. Morawska is the director of the International Laboratory for Air Quality and Health and a professor at the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia. She conducts research on air and the impact of air quality on human health and the environment. She is the author of over a thousand publications showing how dangerous breathing polluted air can be to health, both in homes, schools, sports halls, and in public transport or urban areas. She studies, among others, the impact of gases, particulate matter, chemical and biological substances present in the human environment.
During her career at QUT (since 1992) she has received over 100 grants for a total sum of over 25 million dollars. She is considered one of the most influential people of our time - we read in M. Morawska's scientific biography.

Curriculum vitaeLidia Morawska was born in 1952 in Tarnów. She grew up in Przemyśl, where her family moved when she was two. Her parents were Zofia Jaskuła and Captain Henryk Jaskuła, a world-famous sailor who made the Polish flag famous by sailing alone around the world without stopping at a port, Honorary Citizen of the City of Przemyśl. Morawska attended the Kazimierz Morawski Secondary School, and after graduating from high school she began studying physics at the Jagiellonian University. There, in 1982, she defended her doctorate in the field of research on radon and its derivatives. In the years 1987-1991 she lived in Canada, conducting research first at McMaster University, and later at the University of Toronto. Since 1991 she has been working at the Australian University of Technology in Queensland. She is a member of the Australian Academy of Sciences and also advises the World Health Organization. She is constantly in touch with a group of friends and acquaintances from Przemyśl. The authorities of Przemyśl, recognizing the contribution of Prof. Lidia Morawska to the development of science and the promotion of the city in Europe and the world, awarded her the title of Honorary Citizen of the City of Przemyśl on May 22, 2024.
