Fuel prices remain high, and for many seniors, they're placing too much strain on their household budgets. There's a simple way to reduce the cost of filling up. All it takes is a single document, which entitles you to discounts at gas stations across Poland.

Although primarily associated with families, the Large Family Card (KDR) is also available to seniors. This applies to those who have raised at least three children (regardless of their current age). This document entitles them to discounts at gas stations , not only when filling up, but also when purchasing selected products.

The Large Family Card program was introduced by the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy as a nationwide discount system for families with three or more children. The card is accepted at both private and public institutions. It can be used at designated stores, gas stations , banks, and recreational facilities, among others.

The aim of the program is to support the budget and facilitate access to services and products on preferential terms for large families.

The current list of partners offering discounts can be found on the official KDR map . To check, simply visit the government's Emp@tia website and select the "Discounts and Reliefs for Large Family Card Partners" tile. The system also allows you to filter results by voivodeship or industry, making it easier to find specific offers in a given region.

Who can count on the KDR? Biological parents, foster parents , and those running family children's homes. The card also applies to spouses of parents and children (both biological and those in foster care). Foreigners may also be eligible for the card, provided they are legally residing in Poland and living here with their family.

As you can read on the website of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy, the right to the Large Family Card is also granted to children up to 18 years of age, up to 25 years of age (in the case of children attending school) or without age restrictions in the case of children with a certificate of moderate or severe disability.

Moreover, the document is available not only to parents currently raising children, but also to those who have supported them in the past . This means that many seniors (former caregivers of at least three children) are also eligible for the Large Family Card.

Seniors with Large Family Cards can count on real savings when refueling. Discounts are available at some stations in Poland, and apply not only to fuel but also to additional services.

According to motoryzacja.interia.pl, Orlen KDR holders can receive an 0.8 cent discount on a liter of standard fuel (EFECTA 95, EFECTA DIESEL, LPG) and a 0.10 cent discount on premium fuels from the VERVA series. If you use a car wash or Stop Cafe, you can receive up to a 20% discount.

At Shell stations, the discount is 0.8 cents per liter of Shell FuelSave fuel, and an additional 0.3 cents less on autogas. Stations also offer a 20% discount on selected food items.

At Circle K, KDR holders can receive a discount of 0.8 to 0.15 groszy per liter of fuel, depending on the type. Additionally, they can take advantage of lower prices on car wash services (up to 25%) and selected catering products (20%). At Circle K Express self-service stations, discounts are 0.5 groszy and 0.10 groszy per liter of fuel, respectively.

In each case, please inform the cashier that you have a valid Large Family Card before making payment , the website notes. This allows discounts to be applied automatically.
