On Wednesday, tractors of protesting farmers will appear in Szczecin again. They will arrive at noon in front of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship Office. Some of the farmers will stay there for a month.

Farmers have five fundamental demands. First, they oppose the unfair influx of agricultural and food products from outside the European Union. They are primarily afraid of the flooding of the Polish market by Ukrainian grain. However, the Mercosur agreement, which facilitates the export of goods from South America to Europe, is also a cause for concern.

- We demand quick, reliable information on what's next for Ukraine - says one of the event's organizers, Stanisław Barna, in an interview with "Kurier". - MEP Anna Bryłka told us that there are no new guidelines regarding Ukraine, which means that, contrary to the announcements of the Ministry of Agriculture, there will still be free trade with this country, we will still be flooded with products from the East. And we want the situation from before the war. Let's help Ukraine - but not at the expense of Polish farmers. Grain is still coming in. Prices are falling. Wheat from a Polish farmer at the beginning of the war cost 1,500-2,000 thousand PLN, now - 700 PLN. Angela Merkel said in one of the Ukrainian newspapers that Ukraine's situation will improve after June 5. This also says something.

Secondly, farmers oppose the reduction of animal production in Poland. Thirdly, they protest the destruction of agriculture by the Green Deal.

- In the case of the Green Deal, they are introducing everything they wanted to introduce - worries Stanisław Barna.

According to farmers, the project should end up in the trash. The fourth slogan - "Polish land for Polish farmers". The fifth important issue is drought.

- We have had a drought since February. The situation is bad. The drought application does not work. That is why municipal commissions should go to the fields - believes Stanisław Barna. He adds: - We will stay at the provincial office for a month. I know that people will come from other parts of the country. Maybe protests will break out all over Poland. The minister writes down our demands, but does not implement them.

There has been unrest in the farming community for some time now. They protested in front of the West Pomeranian Voivode's office, among others, in March last year. ©℗
