A tram collided with a scooter. A video from a track camera serves as a warning.

On Sikorskiego Street in Szczecin, near the Electrical Department of the West Pomeranian University of Technology, around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, a number 10 tram collided with a scooter. The 19-year-old was riding it across a pedestrian crossing.
"The scooter rider was very lucky – he escaped unharmed, largely thanks to the tram driver, who braked quickly," says Wojciech Jachim, spokesman for Tramwaje Szczecińskie. "Surprisingly, the tram suffered more damage (the windshield and bumper were damaged). The repairs will certainly exceed 10,000 złoty. Tramwaje Szczecińskie intends to sue the perpetrator for reimbursement of their costs."
He added that the young man was wearing headphones, which is likely why he didn't react to the approaching tram, even though the driver tried to warn him with his bell. He also emphasized that the 19-year-old broke traffic regulations by crossing the street. (K)

Well, what if the two of them were on one lane?

Will he have to pay for the damages? Is this the end of the róbtacochceta?

If we can't ride electric scooters around the city, maybe, like France and Italy, we should introduce a ban on scooters in the city? I think all Euro enthusiasts won't mind. Seeing how and at what speed these vehicles travel on sidewalks and streets, it's only a matter of time before an accident occurs. Bravo, Mr. Tram Driver, for your quick thinking. I hope this young man will cover all the losses and learn from them for the future.

Another one who sees all the evil in this world in scooters, not the stupidity of the users. How do you know this guy doesn't have a driver's license? If he's 19, it's quite likely he's already well-prepared. Having a license doesn't automatically make someone think. This is clearly visible on the roads, in how some drivers behave, even though everyone is theoretically required to have a license. In my opinion, the problem isn't the license, but the sense of impunity because no one checks.

"HOW LONG WILL THEY TERRORISE PEOPLE ON THESE FRICKY SCOOTLEGS?" - and get off the scooters. The devices aren't to blame, only human stupidity. Cyclists can also pull off some crazy moves; they don't get that much media coverage. Likewise, pedestrians, who jump right in front of the wheels without a second thought. I can't even count the number of times someone has stepped onto my path right in front of a vehicle without a second thought. This city needs more effective patrols to punish such idiots, not a crackdown.

And the smear campaign against scooters will begin again, as if the devices were to blame, not the idiots breaking the rules and riding in without a second thought. It will end like in Paris – with a ban on scooters for everyone. After all, idiots are everywhere, not just on scooters. Today, while riding my scooter on the path, I had to yell at some teenager on a bike because he kept riding on the left side of the road, as if he were in England, which almost caused him to collide with a bicycle that was riding correctly. It didn't help; he continued riding on the left.

You're right, young man/hammer-man/—progress can't be stopped. If a tram knocks your ass off, you'll start a collection and buy yourself some super-prosthetics. And have fun... soul?, rather, ass. And if you hurt someone, like your idol, you'll say—you should have gotten insurance. Good luck—buy yourself a red cap with a star on it.

This is a perfect example of how scooters are beyond any control. Anyone, regardless of whether they have a license or not, can ride them in city traffic without any checks, because the police 👮 turn their heads the other way when they see "scooter-dud." 99% of minors don't have a bike license, but since NO ONE checks it, no one cares, least of all their parents.

Financial penalties only! Fine + all vehicle repair costs.

Way to go

In Poland, an adult does not need to have any license to ride a bicycle or scooter on public roads. Fortunately, the Szczecin Trams have cameras, so now they will pay for the tram repair out of their own pocket.

The 19-year-old probably doesn't have third-party liability insurance. I wonder if the court will approve the 10,000 PLN compensation for Tramwaje.

Trams are supposed to sue for something? It's unbelievable. Why didn't the police or prosecutor's office take action on this? What a mess!

Exactly

Hit hard on the pocketbook because that's what hurts the most. And getting back to the 19-year-old, he should remember that he's probably already exhausted his happiness.

He's 19, so he should go to jail for causing a hazard. How many people on the tram fell / broke limbs, ribs, dislocated teeth, cracked heads? Every injured person should sue the bastard for compensation. How long will these bastards TERRORIZE people on these filthy scooters! What kind of moron buys a child a scooter, only to later despair because his son got killed? These idiots allowed him to drive. He rides on the sidewalk, silently passing pedestrians and cyclists left and right at breakneck speeds. OUT!

Wow

The tram didn't give way. Do what you want on a scooter?
