For Go Ahead Eagles coach Paul Simonis, winning the KNVB Cup still feels a bit unreal. His team won against AZ on Monday after taking penalties and will be honored in Deventer on Wednesday evening.
"It's a dream to play matches like this and win them," Simonis told ESPN during the tour of the city. "It was the most special day of my life. That you can achieve this as a relatively small club is amazing."
Simonis started his first job as head coach in professional football last summer. "I can feel quite blessed that I started at Go Ahead Eagles. I hear that from fellow coaches too. There are few clubs that are so calm and stable."
