Violence levels in Sinaloa will decrease: Sheinbaum

MEXICO CITY (apro).- This last period of 2025 will be better than that of 2024 in terms of security in Sinaloa, when the violence began in the state following the arrest of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, said President Claudia Sheinbaum, although she has not yet said when complete pacification will be achieved.
Following the demonstration in which the state's citizens, including children, demanded an end to the violence and a return to peace, something they hadn't seen for over a year, the president responded:
"We're going to continue working, and we're still working. The security cabinet is there. They go every two weeks. There are members of the army, the National Guard, the Navy, and investigators. There are many arrests, and we're going to pacify Sinaloa, as you know, following the arrest of a criminal who sparked the conflict within this criminal group."
The federal leader recalled that every two weeks the security cabinet travels to the state to review the implementation of the security strategy.
"The security cabinet will be in Culiacán tomorrow. There was a good result in August, and of course, more is needed. There was a decrease coming, but then there was an increase in Sinaloa in the previous four months, and in August there was a reduction. There was reinforcement, and we will continue to address it."
He emphasized that his administration is working to reduce violence and, where necessary, to address the causes that generate violence.
"This year is going to be better than the last period in 2024, when this period of violence began."
He also spoke about other problems Sinaloa has faced, such as the drought and the impacts of tariffs imposed by the United States government, specifically referring to the tomato tariff.
In the end, he considered that "now, at least this year, there is less drought and production will be higher."
