This is how the Clausura Tournament table looked on matchday 4: Boca's winless streak takes its toll, and Argentinos' victory takes them out of the Libertadores spots.

After the Boca-Racing and Independiente-River classics on Saturday, the fourth round of the Clausura Tournament followed on Sunday, and Argentinos Juniors' victory over Unión shook the Xeneize world. With the three points that Nicolás Diez's team earned, they displaced Miguel Ángel Russo's team from direct qualification to the Copa Libertadores based on the Annual Standings.
Saturday's derby stole the show. It all started with Boca's 1-1 draw with Racing, which extended Xeneize's winless streak to twelve, and continues to extend its all-time record. The team coached by Miguel Ángel Russo can't turn around its downward spiral, and not only haven't won, but in this Clausura, they haven't even led against their four opponents. They were left with three points, the result of three draws (including the loss to Huracán).
The Academy wasn't too comfortable heading into the Clásico, having lost two of its three Clausura appearances. However, Gustavo Costas's team can't be held accountable for their efforts, as they have their sights set on the Copa Libertadores Round of 16, where they will visit Peñarol of Montevideo in the first round next Tuesday.
Saturday's match continued with the clash between Independiente and River Plate, which ended 0-0 thanks to Franco Armani's saves, leaving River Plate without a chance to win its first match of the championship. River Plate ultimately valued the point, although it will no longer be the sole leader of Group B of the Clausura.
The team led by Marcelo Gallardo has 8 points, now equals San Lorenzo at the top of the standings, and could become runner-up if Deportivo Riestra (6 points) wins its match this Monday against Defensa y Justicia, in Varela.
Sunday seemed quieter, but it was packed with action. It was a day of controversy. Barracas beat Aldosivi 3-1, but the spotlight was on Bruera's goal—offside?
Later, Instituto drew with Platense in another match with a full VAR intervention and towards the end of the weekend, Argentinos Juniors beat Unión de Santa Fe 1-0 and entered the direct qualification spots for the Copa Libertadores, leaving Boca (for now) out.
It all started on Thursday with three matches: Gimnasia defeated Godoy Cruz 2-1 in Mendoza; San Lorenzo defeated Vélez 1-0 at the Nuevo Gasómetro; and Estudiantes dominated Independiente Rivadavia with a 2-1 victory in La Plata. The action continued on Friday with three more matches: Huracán upset Tigre 1-0 in Victoria; Newell's and Central Córdoba drew 1-1 in Rosario; and Lanús celebrated a 1-0 victory against Talleres in the South.
This Saturday, August 9, the preview of the classics was given by San Martín de San Juan and Sarmiento de Junín, a key match in the fight for permanence that ended in favor of the Buenos Aires team, in Facundo Sava's debut as coach, and left the green-black at the bottom of the standings, both Annual and Average, which will determine the relegations.
After the classics, the closing match on Saturday was celebrated (and much) by Belgrano, who beat Banfield 2-1 with a great performance from Lucas Zelarrayán, who scored a stunning goal, and moved to within two points of Estudiantes, the leader of Zone A. In Córdoba, they also celebrated Friday's defeat by Talleres, who are fighting to avoid relegation. Regarding their chances of relegation, Taladro returned to the South with that latent concern.
