The ASU2025 Junior Pan American Games began with very good news for Argentine cycling. In the women's time trial, Julieta Benedetti and Delfina Dibella took the podium after outstanding performances that earned them silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Mendoza native Julieta Benedetti completed the 26.6 kilometers of the race in 37 minutes and 6 seconds. Meanwhile, San Juan native Delfina Dibella recorded a time of 37 minutes and 43 seconds. Both dominated the competition until Colombian Natalia Garzón, the last to take to the track, clocked 36 minutes and 43 seconds to take the gold medal.

Gentleness

Among the men, Octavio Salmón, a native of Cañuelas, finished seventh in the 39.9-kilometer time trial, with a time of 51 minutes and 33 seconds.

Mateo Kalejman, from San Juan, who had achieved the best time in the men's category, was disqualified due to an irregularity in his bike seat position. Although his bike was inspected both before and after the start, a complaint from the Colombian team led to the sanction.

Argentine cycling will continue its participation next Tuesday, when track events begin at the Luque velodrome.
