Lamine Yamal begins his tenure as Barça's No. 10 with one goal in mind: "We still need to win that Champions League."

Lamine Yamal officially renewed his contract with FC Barcelona on Wednesday , a club where he will remain until 2031, according to his new contract. Wearing his new number 10 shirt, the right winger held a sober event where he spoke to the media and outlined a specific goal for the team: the Champions League .

"What this renewal means is that I'm still at the club of my life, enjoying myself, playing for the best club in the world . I'll keep enjoying myself, I'm under no pressure. I'm very happy, and so is my family," he told the media at a private event in the Barça store at Camp Nou, holding the number 10 he will wear this season.

A season in which he's confident he can win the Champions League. "In the end, renewing with Barça until 2031 is a big step; it's quite a few years. I hope the road will be very long and full of victories; we'll see. I hope to enjoy it more than last year. I haven't won the Champions League, so I really want to win it ," he admitted.

"I think we're missing the Champions League title . We're a very young team, but when we're enjoying ourselves, everyone's happier, and we play better and win. We need to win the Champions League and keep enjoying ourselves to win," said the Spanish international striker and new FC Barcelona number 10.

On the other hand, he assured that he focuses on external criticism. " I'm indifferent to both criticism and praise, if it's not from my family, friends, or close friends. What matters is enjoying myself. I'm focused on football and showing what I'm capable of," he stated.

And when asked about the criticism he's received recently, especially related to his 18th birthday celebrations, he was blunt: "I work for Barça, I play for Barça, but when I'm away from the training ground, I enjoy my life and that's it."
