Former soccer player Murci's tense moments during a fire in León: "When your home and your life are just feet away from burning down."

Former footballer David Murciego, better known as Murci, has experienced firsthand one of the forest fires terrorizing Castile and León, specifically the Molezuelas de la Carballeda fire, which could have devastated neighboring towns, including the former player's own.

The former athlete, now a coach, shared on social media the tense moments he experienced as he watched the flames approach his town, Jiménez de Jamuz, and endanger his life.

"When your house and your life are just meters away from burning down," the former soccer player shared in a video in which he can be heard saying, "This is my house, if I get out of here alive... It's amazing."

Hours later, Murci appeared on COPE's El Partidazo program, in which he explained his feelings during those tragic moments: "I thought I would never see my home again."

Despite the brutality of the fire, the former soccer player didn't hesitate to do his part, along with several other neighbors. "A group of us volunteers stayed behind to help with tractors and fire extinguishers to put out the blaze," he explained on the radio program.

Murci is known for his past at Villareal B, Gimnástica Segoviana, La Nucía, Jove Español, Crevillente, Ronda, Cultural Leonesa, Arenas Club, Marino, Talavera, Alcobendas, Eldense, Salamanca CF, Zamora, Xerez CB, Palencia, Ribert and Ciudad Rodrigo.

During his time at Cultural Leonesa, the former footballer surpassed the goalscoring figures of Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
