Carlos Alcaraz, living the life of the city: champagne galore, sparklers, and the Paris party that continues in Ibiza to celebrate Roland Garros.

Carlos Alcaraz likes to do things his way. He repeats this every time he's asked about his unique approach to his career, with enjoyment as his main priority. And what better time to enjoy it than after winning one of the most coveted trophies in tennis? The Spaniard was crowned Roland Garros champion for the second consecutive season on Sunday, defeating Jannik Sinner in a historic and epic final. With the Coupe des Mousketeers in his possession, he unleashed the festivities, which began on the clay of the Philippe Chatrier stadium, continued in an Italian restaurant in the heart of Paris, and will continue for several days on a well-known Mediterranean island, where he will take a well-deserved mini-vacation before returning to the ring on the circuit.
Carlitos sealed the victory around 21:00 in France by 4-6, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) and 7-6 (10-2) after five hours and 29 minutes of play, in what became the longest final in the history of this Major and the second longest of a Grand Slam, after that of Australia 2012 between Djokovic and Nadal. But several more hours passed before he left the Bois de Boulogne club.
After the awards ceremony, the first celebrations began, with his family on the court—he posed for the cameras with his parents , Carlos and Virginia , and two of his brothers, Sergio and Álvaro —and alongside the ball kids . And then, the press commitments, especially the Spanish press, which made him open his heart.
No words can explain the feeling of a tennis match @carlitosalcarazz .#alcaraz #rolandgarros Carlos Alcaraz celebrates his victory at Roland Garros
“I never saw him as losing. Even though we faced match points, I think the main reason I was able to turn it around in the end is because we never gave up. We always believed we could turn it around, come back, and that was the key,” he said in an interview with Cadena Ser 's “Carrusel Deportivo” about his victory, which, curiously, kept him from getting closer to Sinner in the world rankings.
While the Italian earned 500 points because he improved on his performance from 2024, when he lost in the semi-finals, he didn't improve his ranking, as he repeated his result from last year's edition.

“When we were down on match points, I was thinking about saving that game no matter what. Going point by point. We knew that if we saved that game, we had a good chance of staying in the match,” he reflected in an interview with the radio program “El partidozo de COPE.”
" We weren't aware that we were making history . We don't have time to think about that. In games like this, where every point counts, every point is important, you don't have time to think beyond the next point," he added.
And he didn't dare to put that final among the best in the history of "major" tournaments.
“There are finals I didn't experience. Wimbledon in 2008 , Rafa and Djokovic in Australia in 2012 , Borg and McEnroe. I didn't experience them, but I know they're part of tennis and sporting history. I don't know if this final is on par with them. I'll leave that debate to others. I'm very happy to have put our name in the history of Roland Garros and the Grand Slams,” he said.

He added: "There were some moments in the match where the level was crazy. At times I was thinking, 'What can I do?' I was hitting some incredible shots. The level was very, very high. I enjoy playing at such a high level against Jannik, having that battle. It was great. I thought the crowd was enjoying it too. Honestly, yeah, I thought that, at times it was unreal."
“I have to realize that I've done it. I think that's the first step. The coincidence of winning my fifth Grand Slam at the same age as Nadal is destiny, I guess. It's a statistic I'll remember forever, winning my fifth Grand Slam at the same time as Rafa , my idol, my inspiration. It's a great honor,” he commented.
Alcaraz had already won the US Open in 2022 and Wimbledon in 2023, and also celebrated his first Grand Slam title last year at this tournament and the All England Club . Against Sinner, he achieved his fifth Grand Slam title at the age of 22 years, one month, and three days. Nadal had reached that milestone at Wimbledon in 2008, at exactly the same age.
"Let's hope it doesn't end there. I hope it continues to add to the tally, that we don't stagnate there, but it's incredible to be able to win my fifth Grand Slam ," he said. "I'm proud of how things have turned out, how we've faced the moments, how we've played, how we've dealt with the pressure, the nerves."

Not everything was joy for Carlitos in the minutes following his victory. Before one of those notes, he asked how Spain had fared in the Nations League final. And upon learning of the penalty shootout loss to Portugal , his smile faded. "No, man. F... mother. Fuck," he said, hurt, clutching his head.
After completing the usual protocol followed by champions and completing an impromptu photo shoot at the club, at Alcaraz's own request, the Spaniard was able to focus on what he wanted: enjoying himself. "Now is the time," he stated as he bid farewell to Roland Garros until next year.
Sienna , the same restaurant where he celebrated his first title in Paris last year, was the setting for the Murcian and his people's party , which featured lots of food, champagne, and even sparklers. Carlitos ate, drank, and danced until almost three in the morning.

And this Monday, instead of the traditional champion photoshoot, which this year was supposed to be in the Place de la Concorde , not in front of the Eiffel Tower , he left bright and early for Ibiza, with a brief stopover in Madrid. On that Mediterranean island, which has become his favorite place to escape the hustle and bustle of the circuit, he will spend several days enjoying time with friends, resting, and recovering energy for what's coming up: the grass-court tour with Queen's and Wimbledon .
After the final he played - and won - on the clay of the Bois de Boulogne , he deserves it.
