'Tala' Rangel in the spotlight after Mexico's defeat; Alberto Aguilar urges patience.

After the Mexican national team's thrashing of Switzerland this weekend, Mexican goalkeeper Raúl Rangel was the target of criticism from fans. In response, Javier Aguirre's former goalkeeping coach, Alberto Aguilar , stated that the Chivas goalkeeper is being criticized, as he didn't see anything so catastrophic.
In an interview with El Informador, the goalkeeping coach of "Vasco" Aguirre during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa pointed out that "Tala" is in a process , so he will be able to demonstrate his best performance and be able to take the position of starting goalkeeper for Mexico in the World Cup.
“I don't see it as catastrophic as they want to make it out to be. Of course, you can't hide the truth, and when the evidence is clear, you can't say anything else. I think they're overdoing it. The game was, overall, a match in which the defense also lacked the resources to show off and perform better,” he noted.
For Aguilar, "Tala" is in the process of maturing , so he needs to keep working and put aside the criticism. This comes after considering that América goalkeeper Luis Ángel Malagón has earned a starting spot, but he's not guaranteed to be Mexico's goalkeeper in the World Cup.
"I think 'Tala' Rangel is a goalkeeper in a transitional stage, which is why he had the opportunity to be seen by Javier Aguirre in a different game, a game of that nature and quality. So, I think he needs to keep working."
"We have to give him a chance. Another game is coming up, and, well, there's not much to say. I think Malagón has already secured a place—I mean, not guaranteed—in Javier Aguirre's starting lineup, and well, we'll have to wait until tomorrow's game to see what Javier can do in goal," he added.
In the end, he revealed that during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, "El Vasco" chose Óscar Pérez over Guillermo Ochoa due to his experience in the 2002 World Cup ; however, now the roles have been reversed, as Ochoa is the experienced one, and everything indicates that Aguirre will opt for Rangel or Malagón.
“He chose 'Conejo' Pérez. It was clear he went for experience, for having played in a World Cup. He was already going to have the opportunity to start the opening game in South Africa. Ochoa made so many mistakes, but he no longer had it in his mind to start with 'Conejo' because of his experience. Now things are changing because of Guillermo Ochoa's experience, and he's going to include him on this road to the World Cup as well,” he concluded.
