Spotify announces a price increase: when will it happen and what is known about the new rates?

Everything points to those who want to listen to music through Spotify having to pay more starting this summer. According to the Financial Times , the Swedish music streaming platform is planning a new price increase that would affect several countries in Europe and Latin America.
This would be a strategic change that has not yet been officially confirmed, although the aforementioned British media outlet cites several anonymous sources. However, one thing that does seem clear is that the United States would be excluded from this price increase because the country is its main market and they actually already implemented a price increase last year.
For the moment, there's no list of affected countries, but the English newspaper offers several clues as to where this price increase for one of the streaming giants might be headed. For example, in recent weeks, Spotify has already increased its rates in countries like the Netherlands and Luxembourg , where its individual plan has gone from €10.99 to €12.99 per month.
But despite this precedent, the increase in the rest of Europe and Latin America is expected to be more gradual, resulting in only a one-euro increase compared to current plans.
In Spain, however, price increases have rarely occurred. In fact, for more than 10 years, the price remained fixed at €9.99 . Spotify implemented its first increase in our country in July 2023, bringing the price to the current €10.99.
For now, we'll have to wait and see if this increase is confirmed. It's worth remembering that the Swedish platform has also just posted a profit after 18 years of accumulating losses.
Spotify's shares have doubled in value in the last year, and the company, which will release its annual results this Tuesday, has not only achieved profits but also increased its number of subscribers.
