The new judiciary must demonstrate profound change in Mexico: Sheinbaum

The Mexican judiciary is entering a historic era: the era of corruption, privilege, and nepotism is coming to an end, and a time has begun for ministers, judges, and magistrates to demonstrate real change.
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized that this transformation seeks to ensure that justice is impartial and based on the laws, recalling the teachings of Benito Juárez :
“It is the rule of law, not justice based on personal judgment.”
The reform of the judiciary is profound and seeks to modernize Mexico's legal structures. Sheinbaum explained that the previous administration's ministers will retain their established retirement benefits, while the new officials will receive updated salaries and provisions , with normal and transparent pensions.
"One era has ended and another has begun. The new judges and magistrates owe their services to the people, because the people elected them," he emphasized.
This transformation aims to strengthen Mexican democracy by ensuring that judicial decisions reflect the interests of society and not the privileges of a few.
The fundamental change in the judiciary entails significant challenges. The new members must demonstrate that justice no longer depends on political influence or personal interests.
Sheinbaum emphasized that, following the Electoral Tribunal 's validation of the recent election, it is clear that some attempts to overturn the results were unsuccessful, reinforcing the need for a reliable and accountable judiciary .
Citizens now expect transparent, equitable, and law-aligned decisions, which represents a historic commitment for the new judges and magistrates.
This reform is expected to make justice more accessible and reliable, strengthening trust in institutions . Transparency in the salaries, pensions, and responsibilities of judges seeks to put an end to the opaque practices that characterized the previous era.
The president noted that the judicial transformation also sends a clear message: public power emanates from the people , and all officials must act in accordance with this principle.
