The court denied the transfer of José Luis Espert's case to Comodoro Py.

Representative José Luis Espert suffered another setback from the courts . Judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi and the Public Prosecutor's Office rejected his request for the alleged money laundering case to be heard in Comodoro Py . The case will remain in the federal court of San Isidro , where the investigation was opened following a complaint by Juan Grabois .

The case against José Luis Espert was formalized just over a week ago in the San Isidro Federal Court . Prosecutor Fernando Domínguez initiated the complaint filed by Grabois, which stemmed from a parallel accounting system attributed to businessman Federico Machado , allegedly linked to drug trafficking. It included a payment of $200,000 to the economist and deputy for the La Libertad Avanza party .

Given this scenario, his lawyers, Alejandro Freeland and Santiago Kent, requested that the file be transferred to the Comodoro Py courts. The main argument was to unify the investigation with another case that Martínez de Giorgi himself has been investigating since 2021, which investigates alleged irregularities in contributions to Espert's presidential campaign.

After receiving the request, Martínez de Giorgi sought the opinion of prosecutor Alejandra Mángano , who is also involved in the 2021 case. The representative of the Public Prosecutor's Office considered the request to be "premature" since the investigation in San Isidro is in an initial stage.

In line with that ruling, the judge rejected the transfer of the file. Thus, the alleged money laundering case will continue under the jurisdiction of Judge Lino Mirabelli in San Isidro. New evidence is expected there, which could determine the congressman's future in the coming weeks. The rejection of the request represents a setback for Espert's judicial strategy. The investigation will continue in San Isidro under the jurisdiction of Prosecutor Domínguez.
