TEAC president and Montero's number three resigns after being accused of charging businessmen to lift sanctions.

The Council of Ministers today appointed José Ignacio Ruiz Toledano as the new president of the Central Economic-Administrative Court (TEAC), replacing José Antonio Marco Sanjuán, who is stepping down after seven years.

Marco Sanjuán , belonging to the fourth promotion of the Superior Corps of State Finance Inspectors, came to the presidency of the TEAC from the Regional Economic-Administrative Court of Castilla y León , of which he was president, after having been special delegate of the Tax Agency in Cantabria and provincial delegate in Palencia and Zamora .

He has now stepped down, citing personal reasons, but his resignation comes after being accused of collecting more than €100,000 from businessmen in exchange for repealing sanctions.

Economic-administrative courts are special administrative bodies—not jurisdictional—integrated within the Treasury but with functional independence. They are responsible for resolving appeals related to the application of taxes prior to judicial proceedings.

Following Marco Sanjuán's resignation, Ruiz Toledano takes over the reins of the court . He has been a State Tax Inspector and a member of the TEAC (Teacal de la Justicia) since July 2018, a position he held after holding various positions in the Ministry of Finance, the General Directorate of Taxes, the Tax Agency, and the Economic-Administrative Courts.
