Sheinbaum condemns famine in Gaza and calls for peace between Israel and Palestine.

Taking a firm and humanitarian stance, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum condemned the growing food crisis plaguing the Gaza Strip on Thursday. During her morning press conference at the National Palace, the president underscored her government's commitment to a peaceful solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine, amid growing reports from international organizations about mass famine.
"We condemn what is happening. Mexico is putting all its words and actions into building peace between these two states," he stated.
The president recalled that Mexico has consistently supported peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine, supported in international forums and through its representation at the United Nations (UN).
Sheinbaum's reaction followed a joint statement signed by more than 100 humanitarian organizations, including Save the Children, Oxfam, and Doctors Without Borders, which denounced a devastating famine in Gaza resulting from the prolonged conflict.
According to the report, the Palestinian population is facing an unprecedented crisis, with shortages of food, drinking water, and medical services threatening the lives of thousands of people, especially children and women.
Last Tuesday, the UN confirmed that Israeli forces killed more than 1,000 Palestinians trying to access humanitarian aid. The organization noted that the attacks occurred while civilians were searching for food, exacerbating the desperate conditions in the area.
This report was a turning point that sparked reactions worldwide, including in Mexico. “We have said in every forum that we seek peace,” Sheinbaum reiterated, emphasizing that respect for human rights and dialogue are essential pillars of Mexican foreign policy.
The Sheinbaum administration thus joins international calls for an immediate ceasefire, the opening of humanitarian corridors, and a solution based on the recognition of two states: Israel and Palestine.
This stance seeks to reinforce Mexico's image as a mediating and pacifist nation in highly tense global arenas. "Peace is not built with weapons, but with justice," has been one of the president's recurring messages in international politics.
Claudia Sheinbaum's conviction is not only a diplomatic gesture, but also an ethical stance in the face of one of the most brutal conflicts of the 21st century. Gaza is experiencing a humanitarian tragedy, and Mexico, true to its constitutional principles and history of international solidarity, is raising its voice in defense of life and peace.
