Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms death of Mexican during ICE raids in California

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) confirmed on Saturday the death of Jaime Alanis García , a Mexican farmworker who died after being hospitalized since July 10, when he was seriously injured during an ICE immigration raid on a cannabis farm in Ventura County, Southern California.
In an official statement , the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its condolences and assured that it will follow up on the case through the External Legal Advisory Program (PALE) to clarify the facts.
According to local media, Alanis suffered a fall of more than nine meters while trying to avoid arrest by immigration agents. Following his injuries, he was admitted to Ventura County Medical Center, where he remained brain-dead until his death on Saturday, July 12.
Witnesses say Jaime Alanis García arrived at the hospital with fractures to his skull and neck . The local prosecutor's office has not yet clarified the exact circumstances of the accident.
On social media, family members and friends shared videos demanding justice and a thorough investigation, while the family in Mexico awaits support for the repatriation of his remains.
The Mexican Consulate in Oxnard is supporting the family, providing support with legal procedures, contacting relatives in Michoacán, and making arrangements to expedite repatriation.
The operation that injured Alanis took place on Thursday, July 10, at several farms in California . According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) , 319 migrants were detained in the raids.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem reported on X that agents faced attacks and violence, including gunfire. She also highlighted that the operation was "one of the largest since Donald Trump's term."
Trump himself, campaigning for a return to the White House, declared on Friday that he had ordered the arrest of those who "throw rocks" at ICE and CBP agents, stating that law enforcement "must use all means necessary" to stop the attacks.
