Mayra Mendoza, the ultra-Kirchnerist mayor who tattooed Néstor Kirchner's face.

Of radical origins, a member of La Cámpora's leadership for over a decade, Mayra Mendoza has recently become one of Cristina Kirchner's main supporters , taking on a leading role in the fierce battle within Buenos Aires Peronism, defending the former president and also attacking Axel Kicillof and mayors aligned with the governor, primarily Jorge Ferraresi.
A member of the organization led by Máximo Kirchner since its inception, she served as a national deputy from 2011 to 2019, the year in which she became the first woman to govern the municipality of Quilmes by defeating Martiniano Molina, who was seeking reelection. In 2023, she defeated Molina again.
Before becoming a congresswoman, she had served as an advisor to Radical Senator José Eseverri , which brought her closer to the Compromiso K movement, and as the manager of Institutional Relations at ANSeS. She was also the partner of José Ottavis, another member of the La Cámpora leadership team at the time. Her tattoos include the faces of Néstor Kirchner and Eva Perón.
In the run-up to this election, the Quilmes mayor's office was implicated in the investigation into the public shaming at the home of Libertarian National Representative José Luis Espert. Eva Mieri, a councilwoman and Mendoza's right-hand woman, was arrested—later released—and prosecuted. A vehicle linked to the municipality was allegedly involved in the attack, which involved horse manure in front of the home.
Mieri will take over as mayor starting in December, if Mendoza's announcement that her candidacy for provincial deputy will not be a symbolic one is confirmed. "Always prioritizing collective work as a contribution to a political project, I will return to a legislative seat in a different context than the one I held in 2011," she posted this Monday, after her nomination in the Third Section was confirmed, behind Verónica Magario and Facundo Tignanelli.
"Cristina is our banned candidate," he announced in that publication, highlighting the central role he will give to his political leader during the campaign, during which he will have to interact with Kicillof and some of the mayors who resisted the Kirchnerist proposal that she head the section's ticket. He publicly clashed with the governor and Ferraresi, mayor of Avellaneda.
