Illa appears today to explain the proposed expansion of El Prat Airport.

The president of the Generalitat (Catalan government), Salvador Illa, will appear this Tuesday to present his proposed agreement for El Prat Airport to expand its long-haul flight capacity, as La Vanguardia reported last week .

The Government will hold a press conference at 11:00 a.m. to explain the details of the technical committee's proposal for the expansion of the Barcelona airport.

Broadly speaking, the solution involves extending the third runway, the one closest to the sea and used for takeoffs, by 500 meters; creating a new institutional body that will allow local authorities to be included in airport management and strategy; and providing compensation to cover the environmental impacts the expansion will entail.
