An international arrest warrant has been issued against Adán Augusto's former secretary.

A political earthquake is shaking the foundations of the Fourth Transformation. The Attorney General's Office has issued an arrest warrant and requested a red notice from Interpol for Hernán Bermúdez Requena, former Secretary of Security of Tabasco during the administration of Adán Augusto López, for being the alleged leader of a criminal organization.

Mexican justice has targeted one of the men who was in charge of security in Tabasco. An arrest warrant has been issued for Hernán Bermúdez Requena, who served as head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) of that state, on the serious charge of leading the criminal group known as "La Barredora."

Known by the alias "Commander H," Bermúdez Requena is now a fugitive from justice. Official sources confirmed that the arrest warrant has been in effect since February 2025. Given the risk of his flight, Mexican authorities have escalated the case internationally, formally requesting that Interpol issue a red notice for his location and arrest in any of its member countries.

The scandal takes on a major political dimension due to Bermúdez Requena's close ties to the ruling party's elite. He was appointed to his position in December 2019 by Adán Augusto López Hernández, who was then governor of Tabasco and later became one of the most influential figures in the federal government and a presidential candidate.

The accusation is not new to Tabasco's political circles. The current governor, Javier May, also of Morena, had already publicly identified Bermúdez in November 2024 as the alleged leader of "La Barredora," marking a clear break with his predecessor and laying the groundwork for the current investigation.

According to investigations, "La Barredora" is a criminal cell with a strong presence in Tabasco, engaged in a violent territorial dispute with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). What's most alarming is how this organization reportedly operated with protection from within the government itself.

The criminal network allegedly enjoyed the complicity of other officials. One of the key names is Francisco Javier Custodio Luna, alias "Guasón," a former state police officer who was arrested in March 2025. "Guasón" and other active agents allegedly leaked sensitive information about federal operations to the criminal cell, allowing them to evade justice and coordinate attacks against their rivals, all under the alleged protection of then-Secretary Bermúdez Requena.

This case represents a devastating blow to the "we are not equal" narrative and the fight against corruption that has been the hallmark of the current government. It calls into question the appointment processes in critical areas such as security and opens a debate about the level of infiltration of organized crime into state structures.

The controversy has escalated to such an extent that even Pío López Obrador, the former president's brother, issued a forceful statement that has resonated across the political spectrum: "All the rot is already coming out." The questions that now remain are crucial for the country's political future: How far did the safety net extend? Did the Morena leadership know about these activities? The truth, without beating around the bush, is what the citizens demand.
