Self-employed workers in Castile and León who take over a business will receive aid of up to 20,000 euros.

The Castile and León Regional Government has launched a new direct aid program of up to 20,000 euros for individuals taking over the generational role of businesses operating in the region.

The President of the regional government, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, today presented Relevacyl, a comprehensive action strategy that responds to the "firm commitment of the Regional Government of Castile and León to self-employment, job creation, and the economic development of the region." The goal is to prevent the closure of viable businesses due to a lack of succession, transforming these situations into future opportunities for those who want to pursue a life in Castile and León.

This strategy includes, on the one hand, the Relevacyl Self-Employment program, which establishes a minimum grant of €10,000 and up to €20,000 for individuals who continue to operate an existing economic activity. This amount will be increased by €4,000 for self-employed women, an additional €2,000 if the beneficiary is under 35 years of age, another €2,000 if the business is located in municipalities with between 1,000 and 5,000 inhabitants, and up to €4,000 if it is located in municipalities with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants.

Fernández Mañueco explained, as an example, that a young woman who restarts a business in a small town will be able to access direct aid of up to 20,000 euros. This aid is retroactive, as all businesses started since January 1, 2025, are eligible.

Secondly, through the Relevacyl Entrepreneurship program, the Regional Government of Castile and León is launching two additional funding lines aimed at supporting intergenerational advisory, consulting, and mentoring initiatives in business succession processes.

The first is aimed at regional and multi-sector self-employed associations and includes grants of up to €60,000 per entity. The second is aimed at cooperative and worker-owned associations, with a maximum amount of €30,000. In both cases, priority will be given to programs specifically aimed at supporting women's transition to self-employment, with the aim of promoting their presence in the self-employment sector.

This initiative is complemented by the launch of the Virtual Relevacyl platform, which will connect those wishing to transfer their business with new entrepreneurs interested in inheriting it. This tool will facilitate the handover process and promote collaboration among all stakeholders involved in the advisory and support work.

The President of the Regional Government has indicated that the regulatory framework for these grants, both for Relevacyl Self-Employment and Relevacyl Entrepreneurship, will be published tomorrow, June 17.

At the same time, the regional government will continue to support newly self-employed individuals with the Second Chance Zero Rate, a complementary measure to pay social security contributions for newly self-employed individuals, at least during the first 18 months of their activity, thus reinforcing assistance at the beginning, which is always the most difficult time. This social security contribution coverage will also be available to young people under 35 years of age who are excluded from the reduced state rate, women returning to work after maternity, and people in vulnerable situations who want to embark on a new career as entrepreneurs.

These measures are in addition to those already implemented by the Regional Government of Castile and León to support entrepreneurship. President Fernández Mañueco noted that, last year, more than 1,500 unemployed people were able to launch a new professional and business career thanks to entrepreneurship aid from the Public Employment Service. He also announced that, in the coming days, new calls will be issued for young farmers and those working on the modernization of farms, also strengthening generational renewal in the countryside.

Finally, the president of the regional government emphasized that Castile and León is the region with the second highest rate of self-employed workers per thousand people of working age and the first in terms of the proportion of self-employed workers in the agricultural sector. He emphasized that the longevity and resilience of the region's businesses make them an attractive option for new entrepreneurs.
