6.1% increase for national buses operating in the AMBA

Starting this Wednesday, July 16, the minimum fare for buses within the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area ( AMBA ) will increase by 6.1%, as part of the quarterly adjustment approved by the Executive Branch at the end of May. The new price for journeys up to 3 kilometers will be $451.01, while for those using the unregistered SUBE card, the fare will rise to $717.11.

This is the final installment of a 21.52% phased increase imposed by the National Transportation Secretariat. The first increase was implemented on May 23, raising the fare from $371.13 to $397.11. The second occurred on June 16, when it rose to $424.91. With the July update, the basic fare has accumulated an increase of $79.88 since the last increase in August 2024.

The new fare schedule affects 103 bus lines operating under national control, many of which travel through areas shared with services in the Buenos Aires province or Buenos Aires province. The latter adjust their fares monthly based on inflation plus an additional 2%. In July, for example, the City and Provincial lines increased by 3.5%.

Starting July 16, bus fares for Group I Suburban Lines, which connect the City of Buenos Aires with the first and second ring roads of Greater Buenos Aires, will be $451.01 for distances up to 3 kilometers.

For distances of 3 to 6 kilometers, the fare rises to $502.43, while for distances without a nominating system, the price will rise to $798.86. Meanwhile, for distances of 6 to 12 kilometers, the fare will reach $541.13; for distances up to 27 kilometers, the price will be $579.87, and for distances beyond 27 kilometers, the fare will rise to $618.35 (for distances without a nominating system, it is $983.18).
