Apple TV is back with another exciting thriller—though, this time, the drama comes with a “darkly comedic” edge. The streamer’s newest show, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, made its way onto the platform on May 20 and stars Tatiana Maslany in the leading role as “fact-checker, mom, divorcée, youth soccer coach, and inadvertent criminal investigator” Paula Sanders. (Joining her in the cast are Jake Johnson, Jessy Hodges, Brandon Flynn, Dolly de Leon, Jon Michael Hill, Charlie Hall, Kiarra Hamagami Goldberg, Nola Wallace, and Murray Bartlett, among others.)
Per Apple TV’s official synopsis, the story follows Paula “as she falls down a dangerous rabbit hole of blackmail, murder, and youth soccer. Convinced that she witnessed a crime—while simultaneously struggling through a custody battle and an identity crisis—Paula begins her own investigation, one that could unravel a greater conspiracy while also holding the keys to rebuilding her family and sense of self.”
While fans of the She-Hulk and Orphan Black actress are certainly excited to see how Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed unfolds, Maslany is just as invested in watching the final result. “I’ve done things that have had a thriller-y feel to them, and I’ve done things that have a comedic feel, but there’s something about this blending that’s really interesting to me,” she told ELLE in an exclusive look at the series. “It really feels like play. All of the takes are different. I have no idea what’s going to end up in the show. [That’s] the best part of it.”
