Mexican Bruno Aloi triumphs in a Las Ventas final that turns into a trap: Plaza 1 announces the shortlist for the Autumn season.

Mexican Bruno Aloi , who managed to cut off the only ear, was proclaimed the winner of the Las Ventas nighttime bullfighting competition on Thursday, which turned into a tough test for the finalists due to the rough tameness of the cattle, which were fought in a very strong wind that further complicated the situation.
The eagerly awaited final of the competition thus became, more than an opportunity, a real ambush, starting with the tough performance of a Guadaira bullfight that also had a very serious presentation, with several young bulls with the build of bulls, and all with abundant and very fine horns.
Faced with such a complex panorama, Bruno Aloi showed enormous solvency , resolving with iron and settled calm all the difficulties that his lot presented him, especially those of his first, a real bull for its integrity and seriousness, since the fourth allowed himself to be done with less roughness although without excessive zeal.
That calm firmness was already evident against him, when the strong wind and the constant head butts of the bull turned each attack into a challenge that never daunted the Mexican, who also knocked down the bull from Guadaira with a superb sword stroke.
And with the same attitude he knew how to take advantage of the fourth cornalón, from the perfect statuesque with which he opened a solid faena that had its best moments on the right side, a superb finish with very tight manoletinas with both knees on the ground and a thrust with all his might from which he emerged spectacularly caught, although with no other consequence than that of cutting off that ear requested unanimously.
Pedro Luis could have cut another one from the sixth, and deserved it, once the third jabonero, flacón and with spectacular "Cretan" horns , did not allow him to do anything more than show his determination and courage again, amidst the gale and the defensive headbutts of the animal.
With that same intention, he then went to receive the very fine bull that was closing the plaza with a long kneeling in the middle, from which he came out stumbling and was pursued agonizingly to the alley, where the animal threw him with a sharp butt of the head.
The tremendous scare didn't seem to affect the Peruvian in the slightest, who still had to endure a very ugly fall at the opening of a trasteo with which, despite his protests, staggering and wanting to get away from the passes, the tame bull ended up submitting to the great endurance and command with which Pedro Luis even stole a dozen excellent muletazos with both hands that went unrewarded due to errors with the sword.
El Mene was assigned a group of marked differences, while the second bull was the most finely built young bull, and perhaps for that reason, also the most mobile and enduring. The Guadaira bull galloped in the first few stages , and, at times less bothered by the wind, the Aragonese was able to settle with him in the shelter of the sun-filled boards.
This was how he was able to present a performance that, as he smoothed out the moves, also gained precision and rhythm, although the young bull lacked better finishes in his charges. A more compact finish and an effective thrust led to a request for an ear, which the president ignored. Instead, the fifth bull translated his rough, zambombo-like build into a distressed meekness, which El Mene had no choice but to abbreviate.
However, the company, after announcing the winner on social media, rather than over the public address system, also decided to re-announce the shortlist as compensation for their submission at the upcoming Fall Fair.

Among the bullfighting teams, Héctor Piña and Antonio Prieto stood out with their effectiveness, while José Luis Triviño and Pablo Gallego, who took the bow in the fourth bull, did well with the banderillas.
The Las Ventas nighttime bullfighting competition ended with just over a third of the crowd filled (around 7,500 spectators, or 10,983, according to the company) in the late afternoon/evening of strong, cool winds.
