Book Fair 2025: Today's Recommended Books, May 5th

There's only one week left of the Book Fair , and there are still plenty of activities to enjoy. From technologies linked to artificial intelligence to semi-staged readings, here's a look at the possibilities this Monday.

At 2:00 PM, the topic will be social media and the possibility of using them for literary creation . "Have you ever dreamed of being a writer?" is the title of an activity that proposes, starting with a random phrase, creating anything imaginable. It will take place in the Digital Space. The activity, at the same time, will feature a Mario Vargas Llosa version , which will use famous quotes from the Peruvian Nobel Prize winner in Literature as its starting point. You will be able to create the most beautiful stories.

A little later, the presentation and launch of the 19th National Short Story and Poetry Contest "Adolfo Bioy Casares" and the winning books published by the Municipality of Las Flores will take place in the Adolfo Bioy Casares room at 2:30 p.m.
At 3:00 PM, the 23rd International Forum on Science and Technology Teaching will begin. It will address a pressing issue: gambling addiction , problematic substance use, and at-risk adolescents. Karina Conde, Raúl A. Gómez, Raúl Mejía, and Matías Loewy will participate in the Victoria Ocampo Room.

At 4 p.m., a tribute to María Elena Walsh will take place with a story and song performance for children ages 2 to 12 in the Children's Area. At 5 p.m., Georgina Barbarossa and Teresa Costantini will star in "Other Words," a semi-staged reading of plays in the Carlos Gorostiza Room. At the same time, in the Youth Tribune, Jessica Boianover will analyze how to combat and prevent bullying and cyberbullying.

Three activities will be held at 5:30 p.m.: in the Rodolfo Walsh Room, there will be a talk entitled “The Relevance of Jean-Paul Sartre , 120 Years after His Birth” with Antonio Las Heras, Jorge Giorno, and Daniel Ripoll; in the Ernesto Sabato Room, there will be a presentation of Paraná by Mempo Giardinelli with the author and Horacio Tettamanti; and in the Tulio Halperín Donghi Room, Laura Azcurra and Rocío Zambianchi will star in “ The Other Frida . 30 Years since the First Publication of Frida Kahlo’s Diary.”
At 6:00 PM, Clarín Novel Prize-winning writer Patricia Suárez will lead the activity "To Write Your Story" in the Youth Tribune; and an hour later, the Latin American Writers' Dialogue will host Chilean Cynthia Rimsky, Argentine Adriana Riva, and Uruguayan Claudio Invernizzi, with the topic "The Helm of the Story. Although without a protagonist there is no plot, the succession of events can overshadow the power of a voice, and vice versa. Where does the narrative focus lie?" The day will end at 8:30 p.m. with the presentation of the book The Joy of Cruelty: Argentina in the Time of Milei , with the priest Paco Olveira, Carlos Rozanski, Dora Barrancos, Nora Merlín and Santiago Levin in the Carlos Gorostiza room.
