'I'm Still Here', with three awards, and 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' triumph at the Platino Awards.

I'm Still Here swept the Platino Awards yesterday, winning awards for Best Picture, Best Director for Walter Salles, and Best Actress for Fernanda Torres. Three nominations that turned into three awards. I'm Still Here was one of the most acclaimed films of the year and was already nominated for an Oscar. The film tells the true story of a family from Rio de Janeiro who suffered the harshness of the military dictatorship in the early 1970s.

It was no surprise that One Hundred Years of Solitude won the award for best series. Netflix's Colombian adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez's novel, directed by Alex García López and Laura Mora, was the favorite to win this award.

At a gala hosted by Mexican actress Aislinn Derbez and Spanish actor Asier Etxeandía, held tonight at the Ifema Municipal Palace in Madrid, Echavarria and Amèlia Mora took home the Platinum for best screenplay for La infiltrada , which they wrote together after intensive research into the story of the real policewoman who spent eight years at the heart of ETA.

The Platinum Award for Best Supporting Actor went to Daniel Fanego for his work in the Argentine film El Jockey . It was a posthumous award because Fanego died last September. Clara Segura, who was unable to attend the gala because she was doing theater, won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role as Carmen in El 47. The actress has already garnered countless awards for this character based on a real woman who lived in Torre Baró and fought to improve life in the neighborhood.

Colombian actress Sofía Vergara, who made a surprise appearance at the gala, and the executive president of the Platino Awards, Enrique Cerezo, presented the Platino Honorary Award to Eva Longoria, actress, director, and producer, in one of the most emotional moments of the gala. Longoria boasted of her Spanish heritage: "I'm Asturian, born in Texas, and my soul is Mexican," she stated.

The Spanish film Buscando a Coque won the award for Best Ibero-American Comedy Fiction. The film, directed by Teresa Bellón and César F. Calvillo, premiered in Spain in February of last year. It stars Alexandra Jiménez, Hugo Silva, and singer Coque Malla, after whom the film is named. Another Spanish film, Mariposas Negras , directed by David Baute, won in the Best Animated Feature category.
