Music in less than 25 minutes

In 2024, American rapper Ice Spice released her debut album , Y2K, which features ten tracks and a total of 25 minutes. It's not as if there aren't albums that long or shorter, but as far as I can see, they're called EPs.
Today there is a debate about what an EP and an LP are, since to be considered an album, it must be over 30 minutes long.
With the streaming era, the rules of music publishing have changed. Physical formats have been displaced, although CDs and vinyl remain as part of nostalgia (not to sound like "the old industry was the best").
But returning to the short materials, I would like to talk about this trend with two artists.
On the Spanish side we have Belize Nicolau Kazi, better known as BB Trickz who shared 80'z, what his record label calls an EP.
And the material, which includes Afro-trap , rap and even pop, shows us lyrics in which he talks about partying, style and feelings –in his own way–, in less than 12 minutes.
This would be his debut with Sony Music Spain , and his statements about his contract caused a stir and confusion.
First, she said she allegedly spent two million euros of her contract, and then clarified that she's supposed to generate two million streams . Although nothing is known about her current situation at the moment, BB Trickz is causing a stir.
"Within a month and a half of my career, I signed the best contract ever signed in Spain. I started releasing music, and when I picked up the checks, people were shocked," the singer said in a video from her record label's offices.
We must keep an eye on her to see what her future holds in the industry, because the "baddest woman in Spain" could surprise us.
Now we move to the UK with Pink Pantheress, an artist who shared Fancy That, a 20-minute mixtape . Many might think that short albums lack quality, but the reality is that Victoria Beverley Walker gave us some of the best albums of the year.
Drum & bass and jungle are the most predominant musical genres, with samples from Panic At The Disco, Basement Jaxx, and even Underworld giving it the touch that captivated us in the 2000s.
And there's something interesting going on with Pink Panthers. If you remember the song "Boy's a Liar Pt. 2 ," there was little talk about her, but only Ice Spice . Now, with this mixtape, we hope to reach a wider audience, because she's a phenomenon in the UK.
We continue…
