Cancun celebrates running in style with the 2025 Half Marathon

Cancún experienced a true sporting celebration this Sunday with the 2025 Cancún Half Marathon , marking the city's 55th anniversary. More than 1,700 runners gathered early to run through the streets and celebrate Cancún by doing what they love most: running, socializing, and enjoying sports.
Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta and Governor Mara Lezama were responsible for officially kicking off the race. In her message, Peralta emphasized the importance of fostering community spaces through sports:
"This is how we celebrate Cancún by doing what we love most: running, socializing, and enjoying sports! This is a reflection of everything we're capable of achieving and a reason to proudly say that we continue to build community."
For her part, Governor Mara Lezama highlighted the enthusiasm with which this third edition of the half marathon was celebrated, with the participation of local, national, and international athletes. “More than 1,700 athletes are going out to give it their all in this third edition of the Cancún Half Marathon. The 2025 Cancún Half Marathon was a thrilling experience. By saying #YesToSport, we celebrate 55 years of history, promoting physical activity, health, and the unity of our community,” she stated.
One of the most emotional moments of the day was the victory of Janet, a proud Cancun native, who, wearing number 1135, was crowned women's champion. "You are a champion! Always keep saying #YesToSport," the governor congratulated her on social media.
The event, in addition to being an athletic competition , represented an opportunity to reaffirm the values of unity, perseverance, and love for Cancún . Entire families, groups of friends, and runners shared the excitement of crossing the finish line and being part of this historic celebration.
