And from a very young age, Alexis Gutiérrez had to sacrifice being with his family . It was at age 12 when, during a Chivas scouting session in his native León, the current América signing caught the eye, so at 13, he had to leave his loved ones to live in Guadalajara.

"It was a very difficult journey, leaving home, my parents, and my entire family since I was 12. It's something you still haven't gotten used to. Whenever I go to León , I always visit them and then leave, because saying goodbye hurts," Alexis confessed in an interview with SDP Deportes.

During his first year in the lower divisions of Chivas , Gutiérrez went to Guadalajara every week and returned to León, always accompanied by his parents, but there came a time when they asked him to stay and live in the Perla Tapatía and everything changed for him and his family .

“It was like a year that I was going to come to Guadalajara, I would go and stay for a week, but they would come. There was a moment where they asked me to stay and I had to travel to a tournament in the United States, so the goodbye didn't feel like 'I'm leaving now'; I was just going to the tournament in the United States, but it was something that hit the whole family hard,” he recalled.

Being America 's signing It meant a new hope for Alexis Gutiérrez , but not only that; it was also a reward for the sacrifices he and his family have made since he was a child. That's why he took the opportunity to thank his parents, because without their support, this wouldn't have been possible.

“It represents a huge dream for me and a reward for all the work, not only mine, but also the support my parents gave me, because there are parents who don't support their children, so I am so grateful for the support they gave me. Now that I'm on this important team, it's a reward for the whole family ,” shared Alexis Gutiérrez , now a América signing .

Alexis Gutiérrez's career achievements have been an inspiration to his family. Proof of this is his brother , Alan , who currently plays in León 's youth academy. He already plays in the U21 category and is the pride of the current Azulcrema signing.

“For me, he ( Alan ) represents a lot. He's my brother , and I love him with all my heart. I'm there for him in every way, trying to give him advice and guide him down the right path. Now he's at home (in León ). It's a little calmer because you're with your parents and family, but he knows that at some point he can leave home, and he's really looking forward to being in the first team, too,” said Alexis Gutiérrez .

Now that he has arrived in America, Alexis Gutiérrez shares this new stage not only with his brother Alan , but also with all his loved ones who from the beginning believed that he would achieve each of his dreams.

"I'm very happy to be able to share it with my family, not just with him (his brother ) but with my dad and mom, my grandparents, everyone. It's a joy he shares, and he's very excited to be able to fulfill his dream," he said.

Soccer is a big part of Alexis Gutiérrez 's family, and he revealed his parents' favorite teams . First of all, his father is a fan of the city's team, so he's a fan of the Esmeraldas de León; his mother, meanwhile, doesn't own a club but fervently supports whatever her children represent.

“Yes (a big soccer fan). My dad has always been fierce, my mom will support us wherever we are, even though she doesn't have a team,” said Alexis Gutiérrez .

And speaking of family, they say that great friends are the family we choose. Speaking of which, Alexis Gutiérrez found a great friendship with Carlos Vargas at Cruz Azul , with whom he shared a lot on and off the field.
