Piazza Week begins: here's why we'll be making some noise.

In 1964, two young researchers studying radio frequencies made a sensational discovery that earned them the Nobel Prize: the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation , the last remnant of the explosion we all know as the Big Bang. In layman's terms, it's a latent noise, a precise indication that billions of years ago, from the nothingness that existed, the conditions were created for stars, planets, and galaxies to rapidly emerge.
Well, starting this year, in its own small way, La Piazza (which will take place from August 28th to 30th ) has chosen " make noise " as its slogan. But not the kind of disruptive din, the indistinct chatter, the mere confusion. No, like the constantly expanding universe, like the cosmos continuing its exponential growth, our festival—now in its eighth year—has decided to make its voice heard, present and persistent.
Starting from an assumption, or rather two. The first is that La Piazza must be a place of participation , of discussion, of the propagation of ideas as if they were electromagnetic waves. No longer, therefore, a celebration of a newspaper, our beloved Affaritaliani , but a participatory, widespread event, with four different moderators on stage. In addition to myself, also journalist Barbara Politi, who this year will introduce the role of host, that is, the one capable of holding together all the threads of the discussion and narrative over these three days. And then two authentic champions: Paolo Mieli , who needs little introduction but who represents the epitome of journalism in Italy; and Francesco Giorgino, the most well-known face on television news who for years—always out of respect for young people—has combined his journalistic work with that of teaching.
Here, the second major innovation is precisely that of focusing on young people , always. Because they are the future, they are the Italy we are building today. It's no coincidence that in the eight editions of La Piazza, the number of young volunteers, an invaluable part of the organization of the event, has grown from two to over a hundred. Proof that here in Ceglie Messapica , paradigms are being overturned. Always with our background noise, which demonstrates that we are always active, that we never stop, that we want to do ever more beautiful and interesting things.
This year, there will be 49 confirmed guests , a small record that demonstrates how our event remains an important point of reference, one of those events that cannot and should not be missed. And finally, still on the subject of novelties, an opening evening dedicated to the awarding of three different recognitions . To the founder of Affaritaliani, Angelo Maria Perrino ; to the great Ferrari strategist, Cesare Fiorio; to young people, for safe driving courses, in memory of Federica Annese . An opening evening, scheduled for August 27, which embodies a clear intent: no format is monolithic , least of all La Piazza. Follow us, we'll have a lot of fun.
