It's official: Alessandro Tomasi is the center-right candidate for the regional elections in Tuscany.

Florence, August 25, 2025 – It's finally official: Alessandro Tomasi , regional coordinator of Fratelli d'Italia and mayor of Pistoia, is the center-right candidate in the regional elections in Tuscany on October 12 and 13.

This is the joint statement announcing Tomasi's official candidacy:
This afternoon, the center-right regional leadership met, a decisive meeting that formalized the path for the upcoming regional elections. The coalition, composed of Brothers of Italy, the League, Forza Italia, and Noi Moderati, unanimously and confidently recommended Alessandro Tomasi as its candidate for president of the Tuscany Region. The meeting, which culminated a long-standing and fruitful effort, was attended by FDI regional vice coordinator and MP Francesco Michelotti, Undersecretary Patrizio La Pietra, League coordinator Luca Baroncini, MEP Roberto Vannacci, Forza Italia regional coordinator Marco Stella, and Noi Moderati MP Alessandro Colucci and his deputy Luca Briziarelli. The coalition thanks the presidential candidates put forward in recent months, Elena Meini and Deborah Bergamini, and all those working on the platform, which will be made available to the candidate for governor as a shared basis.
The center-right presents itself as a strong and credible alternative , ready to govern Tuscany with the same effectiveness and common sense it already demonstrates in many of the region's major cities, where our administrators are appreciated and reappointed. We are a coalition that has worked successfully, demonstrating our ability to build, not just protest. Faced with the chaos of a divided center-left clinging to fragile power agreements with the Five Star Movement, the center-right is responding with unity, cohesion, and a clear vision for the future. Now all that remains is the formal passage to the national leadership table, which will formalize Tomasi's candidacy. This choice opens a path of dialogue with Tuscan society as a whole. The goal is to formulate a broad, inclusive political proposal capable of going beyond our traditional boundaries, to unite all those who desire change. Tuscan citizens, tired of decades of inaction and missed opportunities, can finally look with hope and confidence to the alternative represented by Alessandro Tomasi and a united center-right ready to govern. This decision continues a process of dialogue with Tuscan society as a whole, initiated by center-right regional councilors in recent years and continued by Alessandro Tomasi himself in recent months. This process continues with even greater strength and unity. The goal is to formulate a broad, inclusive political proposal capable of reaching beyond our traditional boundaries, to unite all those who desire change.
Tomasi: "It's time for a change"The confirmation came while the mayor was in Poggio a Caiano, presenting the civic list ' It's time!' for Tomasi as president . "I can bring my experience as mayor to the Region," Tomasi emphasized. "Be the first point of contact for citizens, from individuals to associations, and above all provide concrete answers . Because the mayor cannot simply blame others, as our Region has done in recent years, saying 'it's the government's fault, it's the international situation's fault. Mayors cannot do this, because citizens need concrete answers."
"There are many issues on the table ," the candidate continued, "from infrastructure to healthcare. We are now trying to find concrete solutions with the administrators." These solutions and issues will also be discussed within a civic list composed, Tomasi added, "of capable, truly civic-minded, transversal people, including those from the center-left, who have said to themselves ' it's time for change .' This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Among the regional council candidates on the civic list "It's Time!" are Chiara Guazzini, Sabrina Tabani, and Marco Ciani. Also in attendance are Chiara La Porta, a member of the Italian Democratic Party (FdI) parliament, and Riccardo Palandri, the mayor of Poggio a Caiano.
