Prostate cancer: Coop Alleanza 3.0 in Foggia donates over €17,000 to GAMA Oncologico Odv to support research.

The solidarity of Coop Alleanza 3.0 members once again translates into a concrete gesture in support of cancer research and prevention . In 2024, the cooperative donated 120,000 euros to healthcare facilities and associations active in the fight against cancer, of which over 17,000 euros went to Puglia and Basilicata , in particular to the GAMA Oncologico Odv volunteer organization .
The sum – 17,106.28 euros – will be used to support a research project by the Medical Oncology and Biomolecular Therapy Unit of the Policlinico Riuniti di Foggia , directed by Professor Matteo Landriscina , aimed at optimising the diagnosis and treatment pathways for patients affected by prostate cancer .
A concrete commitment to cancer preventionThe funds donated come from contributions from Coop members who have chosen to donate part of their shopping points. This gesture of collective solidarity has been transformed into financial resources by the cooperative, at the rate of one euro for every 50 points donated .
" Today's donation is an important sign of how much the solidarity network, volunteers, and the healthcare system can work together to strengthen cancer prevention and treatment in Puglia ," said Raffaele Piemontese , Vice President of the Puglia Region and Councilor for Health. "The National Agency for Regional Health Services has confirmed that our region is among the fastest growing in Italy in terms of cancer screening participation, with significant improvements in 2024, especially for colorectal and cervical cancer."
The value of cooperation and researchDuring the award ceremony, held at the Policlinico di Foggia , Eliana Straziota , board member of Coop Alleanza 3.0, emphasized the collective value of the initiative: " Being present in communities and caring for people is at the heart of cooperation. This donation is a dual gesture: it supports research and demonstrates the strength of shared solidarity. I thank all the members who, with small gestures, have made such an important contribution possible."
Raffaella Francavilla, president of the GAMA Oncologico Odv association, also highlighted the organization's commitment "to improving adherence to treatment through awareness and communication with family members and healthcare workers."
Professor Matteo Landriscina , director of the University Medical Oncology, finally recalled the scientific and clinical importance of the project: “ The molecular characterization of tumors will allow us to acquire new information that will contribute to the progress of medical oncology and, at the same time, will allow for personalized therapeutic pathways for patients at the Foggia Polyclinic .”
A project that combines solidarity and innovationThe project represents a step forward in precision oncology, thanks to an approach that combines clinical research and personalized medicine , while at the same time strengthening the local prevention network .
In addition to Puglia and Basilicata, Coop Alleanza 3.0 has supported numerous healthcare institutions throughout Italy: from the CRO in Aviano to the Burlo Garofolo in Trieste , from the IRST in Meldola to the AIL Modena , up to the Salesi Foundation in Ancona.
A mosaic of solidarity that, even in 2024, confirms the strength of the bond between the cooperative, the communities, and the world of research.
