The meeting between Health Minister Orazio Schillaci and his colleague, Giancarlo Giorgetti, who heads the Ministry of Economy and Finance, was positive, with Giorgetti expressing his willingness to listen to the Minister of Health's requests. In recent weeks, the Minister of Economy and Finance has met with all the ministers to discuss the budget law.
Resources for the National Health Service are on the table in the next Budget. In addition to the €4 billion already earmarked for the 2025 budget law, the National Health Fund would receive an additional €2 billion, primarily to be used for staffing initiatives initiated recently with the enabling bill, whose consideration in the Council of Ministers has been postponed until after the summer recess.
Furthermore, fresh resources will also be used to strengthen prevention, a stated objective of the Minister of Health, and the new Mental Health Plan 2025-2030 that the ministry sent to the Regions in recent weeks.
