Scoppito is the richest municipality in Abruzzo. Located in the Apennine hinterland, it is made up of 13 hamlets and its territory is home to numerous small and medium-sized businesses. Also entering the poorest municipalities in Abruzzo are Schiavi di Abruzzo, Villa Santa Lucia degli Abruzzi, Castelvecchio Calvisio and Gamberale. In this case the ranking is divided between municipalities in the province of L'Aquila and municipalities in the province of Chieti with the sole exception of Corvara which is located in the Pescara area.
