Scoccimarro: ARPA tests certify high quality seafood in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Thanks to the constant monitoring performed by Arpa Fvg technicians, we guarantee the water quality of the Gulf of Trieste, which is free of any problems. This activity is essential for monitoring the bloom of potentially toxic microalgae, a phenomenon linked to certain climatic conditions and particularly high temperatures. The rare incidents recorded in past years, which resolved very quickly, have never caused any health problems.
Fabio Scoccimarro, Councillor for Environmental Protection, stated this today in Sistiana at the conclusion of today's marine sampling campaign carried out by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Agency for Environmental Protection.
"Monitoring for the presence of the microalgae Ostreopsis cfr. ovata is conducted every 15 days along our coasts and is part of the Bathing Surveillance Plan. The goal," Scoccimarro explained, "is to assess the presence of this algae and other potentially toxic microalgae that could have health and hygiene impacts, which fortunately have never been recorded."
During the campaign presentation, it emerged that the areas most under surveillance were Muggia, Barcola, Sistiana, and Canovella De' Zoppoli.
"We can proudly state that the quality of our water is consistently very high. This is one of the many tests carried out by Arpa Fvg, which—the councilor concluded—are then made available online to the citizens of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the many tourists who flock to our seaside resorts."
