Energy: from 1st July the new clearer and more understandable electricity and gas bill

From 1 July, electricity and gas sellers will be required to issue bills in a new, clearer and more comprehensible format , with a front page that is the same for everyone , containing the main general information, and two boxes: the 'Energy receipt' which shows quantities by price, and the 'Offer box' which recalls the contractual conditions signed by the customer. The new rule aims to improve the comprehensibility of bills for families (excluding customers in the majority protection), condominiums, small and medium-sized businesses and BT other uses (such as garages, cellars and warehouses). The bill reform is the result of a long consultation process with associations, businesses, consumers and other stakeholders and has required important changes in the invoicing methods of sellers.
With the introduction of the new format, an information campaign will be launched in the next few days on radio, television and on Arera 's social channels (Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin, Youtube, X) that will explain its advantages.
The features of the new Bill• Unified front page : corresponds to the first page of the bill in which sellers report the amount to be paid and all the essential information on the customer, the type of service, the supply contract, invoicing and payments;
• Energy receipt : reports the formation of the overall cost of energy in relation to consumption, according to the quantity-by-price structure, divided into 'consumption quota' and 'fixed quota', plus the 'power quota' for electricity; in this way the invoiced amounts are aggregated in such a way as to highlight, on the one hand, the expenditure quota that depends on consumption and, on the other, the expenditure quota independent of the volumes of energy consumed, therefore paid to have an active point (the quotas are divided, in turn, into sales and 'network and charges'). This section also reports separately VAT and excise duties, any social bonuses, other items (example: late payment interest), additional products and/or services and the RAI license fee;

• Offer box : contains the identification code (Offer code, also usable on www.ilportaleofferte.it) and all the elements useful to the customer to verify that the signed contract is correctly applied.
• Essential information elements : this section, organised into boxes, contains, among other things, information relating to the technical characteristics of the supply, readings and consumption, any recalculations, historical information on consumption and maximum power drawn, payment status and instalments.
The detailed elements continue to report the information intended for an in-depth understanding of the invoiced amounts. The document is available in a standard format, through a digital channel reachable via the QR code and the URL reported on the bill.
