EFRAG appoints new Sustainability Reporting Board

EFRAG has confirmed the new Sustainability Reporting Board (EFRAG SRB ) effective from 1 March 2025. As most members were available for renewal, the composition remains largely unchanged, with the exception of the user sector representation, where Susana Peñarrubia succeeds Alexander Bassen, whose mandate ended earlier this year due to professional commitments.
“The Council is fully committed to delivering the Union’s policy objectives at a critical time, and we are therefore pleased that most members can continue to contribute in line with their commitment. We welcome Susana Peñarrubia, whose expertise in sustainable finance will enrich our discussions. At the same time, we express our gratitude to Alexander Bassen for his valuable contribution to our work over the past years,” commented Patrick de Cambourg , Chair of the EFRAG SRB.
The Sustainability Reporting Board is responsible for all EFRAG positions relating to sustainability reporting and, in particular, is currently committed to fulfilling the mandate received from the European Commission on the simplification of the ESRS .
The EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Committee is composed of representatives from three main groups: up to eight members represent European stakeholder organisations, up to nine members come from national organisations in the various Member States (including seats reserved for national regulators from France, Germany, Italy and Spain), and five members represent civil society organisations.
The presidency of the committee shall be entrusted to a president designated by the European Commission, after consulting the European Parliament and the Council of the Union.
Finally, European public institutions, authorities and agencies – including ESMA, EBA, EIOPA, AEA, FRA, the European Commission Platform on Sustainable Finance, the CEAOB and the ECB – participate in the work of the Committee through observers with the right to speak.
