DBA Group with Terna to develop the Adriatik Link power line between Marche and Abruzzo

DBA Group , an Italian company specialized in the provision of consulting, architecture, engineering, project management and ICT solutions for the life cycle management of mission-critical works and infrastructures, has signed two new contracts with Terna for the development of the Adriatic Link , the submarine power line that will connect Marche and Abruzzo.
The Adriatic Link will increase energy exchange in the central part of the Peninsula, responding to the safety and flexibility needs of the national electricity system and the objectives set by the Integrated National Plan for Energy and Climate (PNIEC). The connection will be built in direct current (HVDC – High Voltage Direct Current), based on Voltage Source Converter (VSC) technology, which guarantees high efficiency and reliability. DBA, specifically, will manage the safety coordination actions during the execution phase for the works on the Abruzzo section of the terrestrial cable : an activity carried out in a Temporary Business Association (ATI) with RR Consulting, with DBA as 55% agent. This assignment has a total value of up to 485,620 euros (of which DBA's share represents 55%) and extends over a duration of 34 months, with the possibility of an optional extension of a further 18 months.
The second contract, instead, sees DBA as the sole contractor for the management of the works for the land cable of the Marche section of the Adriatic Link , with the management of the HVDC Central South/Central North connection, characterized by a 2 x 500 MW Bipole at ± 500 kV, built with Voltage Source Converter (VSC) technology. The value of this assignment is approximately 892,000 euros and the expected duration is 40 months, with an option for a further 10 months.
“We are particularly pleased to have obtained these two assignments, which are part of a broader project for the construction of strategic works at a national level, which we have been carrying out in recent years,” says Raffaele De Bettin , CEO of DBA Group. “The signing of these contracts with Terna, our historic client, represents an important recognition of the technical skills and experience we have gained in the field in managing complex and innovative interventions in the energy infrastructure sector. An operation that allows us to further strengthen our presence in the sector and is part of a strategic path to accompany the country towards achieving the objectives of decarbonisation and sustainability”.
