The Metaverse of Italian Culture in the World: Presentation Tomorrow at Montecitorio

The project “Luoghi e Percorsi Immersivi d'Italia” (Immersive Places and Paths of Italy), an initiative by Archeoclub d'Italia in collaboration with In The Green Future, an interdisciplinary incubator committed to sustainable development, will be presented tomorrow, Wednesday 14 May at 10:00 am, in the Sala Matteotti of the Chamber of Deputies. This is an immersive and accessible digital platform that brings the metaverse to the villages and places that are symbols of Italian culture, especially those excluded from mass tourism circuits, such as inland areas, smaller islands and coastal areas. The event is held under the patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers - Department for Digital Transformation, the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, and the Ministry of Culture.

The opening of the works will be entrusted to the promoters of the project: Rosario Santanastasio, national president of Archeoclub d'Italia, and Raffaello Dinacci, founder of In The Green Future. “The project was born to make the heritage of small Italian towns accessible to everyone – says Santanastasio –. We think of those who live thousands of kilometers away or those who cannot move: today they too will be able to explore a village in the Apennines. It is an inclusive and concrete initiative, which stimulates knowledge and brings services to the territories”. “We have accompanied and supported with our ecosystem the Luoghi e Percorsi Immersivi d'Italia project, which represents a decisive step towards a new way of enjoying and enhancing cultural heritage – adds Dinacci –. Through the metaverse and ESG principles we want to make culture an immersive, participatory and truly accessible experience, capable of strengthening the identity of the territories and projecting it into an international dimension”.

Moderated by journalist Barbara Carfagna (RAI), the event will see the participation of numerous representatives of institutions, the academic world and cultural innovation. Speakers include Giorgio Maria Tosi Beleffi for the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, Laura Moro from the Ministry of Culture, and Sergio Nardini, professor of the Department of Engineering at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”.

This will be followed by contributions from Edoardo Colombo, president of the Turismi.AI Association, Innocente Cataldi, project manager for Archeoclub d'Italia, Federico Tozzi, executive director of the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce in New York (remotely), and Enrico Derfligher, president of Euro-Toques and ambassador of Italian cuisine in the world (remotely). Roberta De Santis, general director of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the UAE, and Luigi Ferrari, Italian ambassador to Turkmenistan will also participate (both remotely). During the presentation, Francesco Sorrentino of Immensive srl – technological partner of the project – will illustrate the functioning of the platform, while Adriana Rossi, professor of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, will present the contents of the PRIN research project “SCORPiò-NIDI” . Further interventions are planned by representatives of the Vanvitelli University (already a partner of In The Green Future since the organization of the first edition of the award of the same name), associations for the protection and enhancement of the Italian cultural heritage, and innovative startups in the cultural and digital sector adhering to the In The Green Future circuit. The project, developed within the framework of the MICIT program (Metaverse for Italian Culture, Identity and Tradition in the world), proposes a sustainable and replicable vision of cultural digitalization, helping to decongest tourist flows, enhance marginal areas and stimulate new territorial economies in line with the objectives of the 2030 Agenda.
