Radio Onda D'Urto. A journey into the blues with Fantastic Negrito

Commitment Notes with “Grandfather Courage” and Other Key Songs
BRESCIA A cry for freedom, an act of resistance, a journey to the roots of the blues in search of a connection with the contradictions of the present. A Fantastic Negrito concert is never just music and words. It's not just rhythm and dance. It's feeling, desperation, anger, passion, hope. The crowd at Radio Onda d'Urto will experience this tonight, as they host Grandfather Courage at their Festa on Via Serenissima in Brescia , performing repertoire from their latest album, " Son of a Broken Man ," released a year ago. By updating the lessons of the founding fathers of blues , soul , funk and R&B , the Oakland guitarist, born Xavier Amin Dphrepaulezz (hence the need for a stage name), has been able to carve out a unique sonic identity for himself, with vibrant and politically engaged lyrics that have earned him three Grammys so far. In addition to collaborations with absolute superstars like E-40 or Sting, who appears on “Undefeated Eyes”, the single that opened the painful look into the past of “ Son of a Broken Man ”, a dialogue between Xavier and the father who kicked him out of home at the age of twelve, leaving his questions unanswered with an untimely death. An album aimed at stirring consciences like its predecessor "White Jesus Black Problems", a 2022 album (followed in 2023 by the acoustic reworking entitled "Grandfather Courage"), linked by Dphrepaulezz to the history of his ancestors with reflections on racism, love and resilience also captured in the brilliant paintings of a film that has become his most original and experimental work.
