Great success for the seventh edition of Naro Passion Day
Naro hosted the seventh edition of the Naro Passion Day, the national gathering dedicated to the Sacred Representations of the Passion of Christ. A one-of-a-kind event, which celebrates an ancient tradition: in Naro, in fact, the Sacred Representations have been held since 1612, the oldest in all of Sicily. Over 500 actors and members of various theater companies, coming from 17 Sicilian and Calabrian cities, gave life to an intense day, in the name of sharing and Passion. The day began with a welcome and breakfast, offered in the Arco Grande room of Casa ContemplAttiva.
This was followed by the celebration of mass in the church of Sant'Agostino, presided over by Father Giovanni Salvia, former military chaplain in Sigonella and member of the “aPassioni” company of Francavilla di Sicilia. After the service, an extraordinary community lunch on the terrace of Casa ContemplAttiva, prepared and offered by the ContemplAttivi, exalted the team spirit and joy that has always distinguished Passion day. The central moment of the day was the show, which began at 5 pm under the colonnade of Casa ContemplAttiva, transformed into a large open-air theater.
Great satisfaction also for the collaboration with the University of Glasgow, represented by Professor Enza De Francisci, present at the event. “For us ContemplAttivi, Passion Day is one of the most important events of our annual activities,” said Massimiliano Arena, organizer and artistic director of ContemplAttivi, “because we believe that for our beloved Fulgentissima this event can become a ‘New Mandorlo in Fiore’, given the uniqueness it has at a national level.” The Naro Passion Day thus confirms itself as one of the liveliest and most heartfelt events in Sicilian culture.
