Filming will begin on Monday 5 May in Bari for the documentary 'Nino', directed by Walter Fasano, which tells the story of the life of composer Nino Rota, the first Italian to win an Oscar for best soundtrack for 'The Godfather Part II'. The film unfolds through archive material and interviews with major figures in international cinema and music who worked with him or were profoundly influenced by him, including director Park Chan-Wook, Oscar-winning composer Alexandre Desplat and seven-time Grammy Award-winning conductor and arranger Vince Mendoza. Video and photographic reconstructions created specifically will also evoke some of the key moments in the maestro's life.
The documentary is produced in collaboration with Rai documentaries and with the contribution of Apulia film fund of Apulia film commission and Regione Puglia. It is produced by Mattia Guerra for Be Water Film, Filippo Sugar and Elisabetta Biganzoli for Sugar Play, Marco Colombo for Adler Entertainment and Marco Morabito (nominated for an Oscar for 'Call Me by Your Name'). The executive production of the documentary is by Adler Entertainment, while in theaters it will be distributed by Be Water Film. The press conference on the set has also been scheduled for May 13 (at 11 am) in the foyer of the Nino Rota auditorium at the Niccolò Piccinni conservatory in Bari, with the director among others in attendance.
