Montodine (Cremona), November 11, 2025 – Stronger than the avalanches that caused deaths and serious problems and that hit a slope of the Himalayas . Stronger than the cold and terrible weather. Stronger than the mountain, conquered with respect with the summit climb last Friday.
Filippo Ruffoni, the climber from Montodine, has reached the summit. He conquered Ama Dablam , reaching an altitude of 6,812 meters , the highest altitude ever reached by the climber from Crema, and then sent a message home via his satellite phone, announcing that he had accomplished his goal . Having left for Nepal on October 25th, he reached the village of Namche Bazar, where he joined the expedition led by Sherpa Chonga Lama and set out to conquer Ama Dablam. To reach the summit he had to stop at three base camps at altitudes of 5,700, 6,000 and 6,200 metres.
Last Wednesday, following the terrible news of the avalanches that had carried off several climbers, including five Italians, Filippo Ruffoni had informed his family that his side of the mountain had not been affected by avalanches or even by terrible weather. He was at Camp 2, located at 6,000 meters, and that the next morning he would depart for Camp 3, located at 6,200 meters, and from there, weather permitting, he would then continue towards the summit. Last night, the family's most anticipated message arrived: "I'm at the summit." The message arrived late due to the time difference (we're 4 hours and 45 minutes ahead there).
The descent then began immediately to prevent the climbers still on the slopes from being caught in the dark. Ruffoni has already reached the village to prepare for his return. He will return to Italy this evening. This is a significant undertaking for him. The climber from Crema had never ventured to the peaks of the Himalayas, not even at such high altitudes. Having summited a peak nearly 7,000 meters is a significant achievement for Ruffoni, and given his success, upon his return he will be planning to conquer an even higher mountain.
