Ischia, taxi protests arrive. Another clash with Enzo Ferrandino.

Ischian taxi drivers protested this morning, deciding to cross their arms in protest of the city administration's recent decision to eliminate two taxi ranks near Piazza Antica Reggia.
A sudden but united demonstration: local public transport operators deserted their parking areas and formed a convoy of vehicles, starting from the former Guerra parking lot and winding along the city's main thoroughfares, slowing traffic and causing inevitable disruption for both residents and the many tourists visiting the island during this summer.
The protest is rooted in the reduction of taxi stalls in a key tourist hub, a decision deemed "incomprehensible and penalizing" by operators, who complain of a growing difficulty in ensuring efficient and punctual service. Taxi drivers also denounce the lack of consultation with the affected categories before implementing the measure.
“We can't work under these conditions,” says one of the protest spokespersons. “They ask us to be present, quick, and available, but they take away our tools and remove us from the square, hiding us in a parking lot.”
Meanwhile, the Municipality of Ischia has not yet released an official statement on the incident. Developments are expected in the coming hours, while the atmosphere remains tense.
