Car parts thefts in the province of Salerno: two 25-year-olds placed under house arrest.

This morning, the Carabinieri of the Benevento and Montesarchio Companies, on the orders of the Benevento Public Prosecutor's Office, executed a house arrest warrant against two 25-year-olds , both residents of Naples , seriously suspected of a long series of car thefts.

The investigation began on the night of March 25, 2024 , when a group of components were stolen from a Fiat 500X in Montesarchio . The investigation expanded rapidly, also involving numerous incidents in the province of Salerno.

The evidence collected led to the identification of the two suspects as the serial perpetrators of the thefts.

One of the most serious incidents occurred in Solofra , not far from the province of Salerno. Immediately after a Fiat 500X was stolen, the two suspects refused to stop at the Carabinieri checkpoint and embarked on a highly dangerous escape: U-turns , entering the A16 motorway in the wrong direction , and attempting to ram the police car .

A behavior that seriously put the lives of the Carabinieri and road users at risk , further aggravating the position of the two suspects, now also accused of resisting a public official .

Following the evidence gathered, the Preliminary Investigations Judge of Benevento ordered the precautionary measure of house arrest . However, for seven other incidents, no proceedings were taken due to the lack of admissibility .
