Under 18 and looking for a thrill? Try wingfoiling with the Pradet Nautical Club

Wingfoil, a spectacular sport combining a board, foil, and inflatable wing, is attracting more and more enthusiasts. But its often prohibitive cost is a deterrent to many.
To overcome this obstacle, the Pradet Nautical Club has chosen to extend its initiative aimed at 12-17 year-olds for another year, with a clear objective: to make this sport accessible to as many young people in the region as possible.
Affiliated with the French Sailing Federation, the Pradétane association is increasing the number of gateways to the sea: optimist, catamaran, dinghy and windsurfing have already allowed generations of children to learn about water sports.
Wingfoil, the newer version, however, poses a particular challenge. Between equipment that's about twice as expensive as a traditional board and more demanding training requirements, the entry fee remains high.
Fixed pricesThis is where the associative status and the support of public partners (Town Hall, TPM Metropolis, Department and Region) make all the difference.
Thanks to them, the club can offer a full season at a fixed price: 650 euros for the year, including equipment, insurance and license.
Board, foil, wing, helmet, wetsuit, impact vest: everything is provided so that the question of budget is no longer an obstacle.
Two groups are formed. The beginners, who train every Wednesday and, if the wind exceeds 15 knots, on Saturday mornings, aim for a simple but exhilarating goal: to succeed in "flying" above the water.
The advanced training group meets on Wednesdays in the late afternoon and on certain weekends, with the regional Wing Tour in mind.
For these budding competitors, specific support is provided, whether it concerns adjustments, physical preparation or safety awareness.
Independent practiceExperience goes beyond just technical learning.
The club also aims to develop the autonomy of young people through the possibility of sailing freely, subject to validation by the instructor.
A way to encourage self-confidence, risk management and team spirit, values dear to sailing.
With this innovative sports school, the Pradet Nautical Club confirms its pioneering role in the democratization of board sports.
By combining qualified supervision, access to equipment, and a community spirit, it opens a door to the sea and a thriving world. For the young people selected on September 10th during the test and motivational interview, this could be the beginning of a real adventure.
