Northampton - Union Bordeaux-Bègles: The Saints, once again dominant, pull English rugby to the top
Do they embody the rebirth of an English rugby system that was thought to be bled dry? While they don't consider themselves the standard-bearers of British rugby, the Northampton Saints players have the trappings, like their young flanker Henry Pollock. At just 20 years old, it only took a few months for the exuberant blond with the black headband, a self-confessed showman, to become the new darling of rugby in the UK. The man who, for his first cap in the XV de la Rose jersey , in mid-March, scored two tries (as a substitute) against Wales, is burning the stages.
Called up for the prestigious British and Irish Lions tour this summer, the former captain of England's Under-20s, crowned world champions in 2024, has been one of Northampton's spearheads in their continental campaign. The team from the East Midlands town, around 100 kilometers north of London, will face Union Bordeaux-Bègles (UBB) in Cardiff on Saturday, May 24 (at 3:45 p.m.) in the Champions Cup final.
