LIVE. Giro 2025: Munoz alone in the lead, a sprint finish expected?

Munoz alone constitutes the breakaway of the day while the peloton rides calmly with a finish that seems to be shaping up as a sprint in Lecce.

The fourth stage of the 2025 Giro d'Italia began in Alberobello and will end in Lecce. The profile of today's race is flat! The riders will encounter a slight difficulty with the climb to Putignano, but the finish will likely be a sprint in Lecce. In total, they will cover 189 kilometers, with the final kilometers covering a circuit of approximately 12 kilometers.

There are only 130 km left before the finish in Lecce. Munoz continues to lose ground.

Visma-Lease a Bike, Lidl-Trek and Alpecin Deceuninck are in control of the peloton and continue to push to catch Munoz.

Munoz scored 12 points in Polignano a Mare. Behind him were Groves (8 pts), Kooij (5 pts), Pedersen (3 pts), Strong (1 pt).

The peloton has reduced the gap with Munoz, who now has a lead of just 4 minutes.

Mads Pedersen took points. The overall leader didn't push hard, but the Lidl Trek rider did the most important thing.

The sprint classification favorites took to the intermediate sprint, including the pink jersey winner Mads Pedersen!

Up front, Munoz very logically took the points in the intermediate sprint at Polignano a mare!

The race continues. The situation is stabilizing, and so are the gaps!

Munoz lost some time on the peloton, which now only has a lead of around 4'30".

Munoz, alone in the lead, obviously took three points at the summit. Moniquet, who attacked Fortunato, took two points. Fortunato, who leads the mountain classification, only gained one point. He remains in the lead with 29 points, while Moniquet has 20.

There is only one man in today's breakaway. It's the Spaniard Francisco Munoz (Team Polti VisitMalt). He has a 5-minute lead over the peloton.

Moniquet took two points for the best climber classification during this single difficulty of the day, namely the climb of Putignano.

Belgian Sylvain Moniquet goes on the attack!

Today's stage is 189 kilometers long, with a likely sprint finish. The riders shouldn't encounter any difficulties on this route, despite the climb to Putignano!

Welcome everyone! The fourth stage started in Alberobello and will end in Lecce.

As in previous years, the Giro d'Italia will be broadcast live on Eurosport . All stages of the Giro can be followed in full on Eurosport's digital platform.
